درباره‌ی کتاب TOEFL Grammar Flash

قواعد و ساختارهای دستوری (Grammar)، با وجود خسته کننده و یا دشوار بودن، نقش بسیار مهمی هم در زندگی روزمره، و هم در آزمون‌های مختلف ایفا می‌کنند. کتاب TOEFL Grammar Flash نیز زبان‌آموزان را برای بخش‌های نحوه بیان جملات، قواعد و ساختارهای دستور زبان آزمون تافل (و حتی آزمون‌های داخلی همچون آزمون تولیمو، آزمون EPT دانشگاه آزاد، آزمون MSRT وزارت علوم و آزمون MHLE وزارت بهداشت) آماده می‌سازد. لازم به ذکر است که در آزمون تافل، قواعد به عنوان یک بخش جداگانه مورد سنجش قرار نمی‌گیرند اما در امتیاز بخش‌های دیگر، به‌ خصوص بخش نوشتاری (Writing) و صحبت کردن (Speaking) تاثیر مهمی ایفا می‌کند. این کتاب هم برای مطالعه فردی (Self-Study) و هم برای آموزش در کلاس‌های زبان می‌تواند مورد استفاده قرار بگیرد.
کتاب آموزش زبان انگلیسی پیش‌رو از شانزده درس تشکیل شده‌و قواعد مهم و کاربردی آزمون تافل همچون انواع اسامی، افعال، حروف اضافه، ساختارهای موازی و قواعدی از این را آموزش داده است. هر درس این کتاب ابتدا با یک متن آغاز شده و قواعد خاص هر درس در همان متن به‌ کار رفته‌اند. سپس چند پرسش از متن آورده شده که افراد برای ارزیابی خودشان باید به این پرسش‌ها پاسخ دهند. در قسمت بعد قواعد به‌شکل تخصصی و در کادری جداگانه به‌همراه مثال‌‌های فراوان آموزش داده شده‌اند و پس از آن، پرسش‌ها و تمرینات مربوط به قواعد و ساختارها آورده شده است. همچنین برخی نکات مهم در ارتباط با هر پرسش، در کادری مشخص آورده شده که این موضوع از گمراهی افراد جلوگیری می‌سازد.
بخش دوم این کتاب، پنج آزمون شبیه‌ساز شده ارائه کرده که به زبان‌آموزان و داوطلبان کمک می‌کند خودشان را راحت‌تر در موقعیت آزمون قرار دهند. همچنین پاسخ همه تمرینات کتاب و آزمون‌های شبیه‌سازی شده نیز در پایان این کتاب آورده شده که به افراد کمک می‌کند نقاط ضعف و قوتشان را راحت‌تر شناسایی کرده و نقاط ضعفشان را برطرف کنند.

Chapter 3: PARTS OF A SENTENCE
Introduction: Phyllis Wheatley Phyllis Wheatley was kidnapped from Africa at the age of eight. She was brought to Boston in 1761, a sickly child only able to speak Senegalese. At the age of thirteen she wrote her first poem. In 1773 her first book of poems was published, the second volume of poetry published by a woman in America. At the Boston slave market, Phyllis was purchased by John Wheatley, a tailor whose wife, impressed by the child's aptitude, taught her to speak, read, and write English.

In a few years Phyllis had also learned geography, history, and Latin and had developed a liking for classical poets such as Horace and Virgil. Her first poem, a translation from the Latin of Ovid, so amazed the literary circles in Boston that they had it published. In 1768 she wrote "To the King's Most Excellent Health," and in 1772 she composed a poem to her mistress, who was so moved that she freed Phyllis and sent her to England to regain her health. With the London publication of her book, Poems on Various Subjects, Religious and Moral, her fame spread on both sides of the Atlantic, and she became a celebrity
