درباره‌ی کتاب زبان تخصصی در روانشناسی پوران پژوهش

متون تخصصی انگلیسی در رشته روانشناسی، نام دو درس هستند که هرکدام دو واحد را به خود اختصاص داده‌اند و تاثیر بالایی در رتبه کارشناسی ارشد دانشجویان رشته روانشناسی ایفا می‌کنند. کتاب English for the students of Psychology (زبان تخصصی در روانشناسی)، یکی از بهترین کتاب‌های دانشگاهی روان‌شناسی است که برای این درس انتشار یافته است و دانشجویان رشته روانشناسی را برای پرسش‌های زبان تخصصی آزمون ارشد آماده می‌سازد. این کتاب از دوازده درس تشکیل شده‌اند.

هر کدام از دروس کتاب English for the students of Psychology از چندین بخش تشکیل شده‌اند و روند مشابهی به پیش گرفته‌اند. هر درس با یک چکیده مقاله انگلیسی آغاز می‌شود. واژگان کلیدی و مهم هر متن جهت سهولت دسترسی و همچنین جلب توجه بیشتر مشخص شده‌اند. همچنین هر پاراگراف به مبحث خاصی از موضوع درس مربوط می‌باشد و پس از اتمام پاراگراف، به مبحث بعدی پرداخته می‌شود. پس از اتمام هر درس، نوبت به پرسش‌های هر درس می‌رسد که عمدتا شامل سوالات جای‌خالی و پرسش‌های چندگزینه‌ای هستند. یکی از مهم‌ترین ویژگی‌های دروس این کتاب آن است که ابتدا دروس پایه‌ای ارائه شده‌اند و هرچه به پیش می‌رویم، مطالب درس‌ها تخصصی‌تر می‌گردند.

در این کتاب، در آزمون تستی تاکید زیادی نشده زیرا به اعتقاد گردآورنده کتاب، دانشجویان باید بیشتر انرژی و زمان‌شان را صرف یادگیری متون، بهبود توانایی درک مطلب و تقویت مهارت ترجمه متون تخصصی می‌باشد اما با این حال، این کتاب از لحاظ پرسش‌های تستی چیزی کم ندارد. پس از اتمام دروس، یک واژه‌نامه تخصصی روانشناسی آورده شده که شامل سیصد واژه فارسی و انگلیسی به همراه توصیف هرکدام می‌باشد. این سیصد واژه تمامی واژگان تخصصی مشخص شده در متن دروس را به همراه واژگان تخصصی بیشتر پوشش داده‌ است.

در پایان این کتاب، لیستی از آزمون‌های انگلیسی روانشناسی سال‌های گذشته آورده شده که مطالعه و برسی آن افراد را برای آزمون آماده می‌سازد. از آن‌جایی که تحلیل و برسی پرسش‌ها از اهمیت بسیار زیادی برخوردار است، پاسخ سوالات درس‌ها به همراه سوالات آزمون‌های سراسری گفته شده تا افراد راحت‌تر بتوانند عملکردشان را ارزیابی کنند.

Section 1 Nature of psychology

The broad definition of psychology is the systematic, scientific study of behavior and mental processes. Behavior refers to observable responses of animals and humans, and mental processes refer to the processes that are not directly observable, such as thoughts, ideas and dreams. The study of psychology can be approached from several viewpoints. The biological perspective relates our actions to events taking place inside the body, particularly in the brain and nervous system. The behavioral perspective considers only those external activities of organisms that can be observed and measured. The cognitive perspective is concerned with mental processes such as perceiving, remembering, reasoning, deciding, and problem solving, and relating those processes to behavior. The psychoanalytic perspective emphasizes unconscious motives stemming from sexual and aggressive impulses repressed in childhood. The phenomenological perspective focuses on the person's subjective opinion! experiences, freedom of choice, and motivation toward self-actualization Considered the father of psychology, Wilhelm Wundt developed an approach called structuralism. It studied the elements of conscious mind by using a technique of self-report, called introspection Disagreeing with Wundt's approach, William James said that it was important to study functions rather than elements of the mind. Accordingly, James studied how mental processes continuously flow and adapt to input from the environment, an approach called functionalism.
